Illinois Drivers Licenses – A reality

The new IL law will allow the Secretary of State to issue temporary visitor’s driver’s licenses to applicants who have resided in this State for more than a year, are ineligible to obtain a social security number, and who are unable to present documentation issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services authorizing the person’s presence in this country. Alabama appeals immigration decision to the US Supreme Court

Alabama is appealing a decision issued last August by the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit which struck down several provisions of both Alabama’s HB 56 as well as a recent Georgia Immigration Law. Read more at Alabama and Immigration

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

The Obama Administration confirmed that recipients of deferred action are authorized to be in the United States and therefore considered to be “lawfully present” under federal immigration laws. The guidance should clarify whether beneficiaries of the program are eligible for driver’s licenses especially in Arizona, Iowa, Michigan, and Nebraska.

Your Risks at the Ballpark

The Missouri Court of Appeals reversed the judgment and reinstated the case against the Kansas City Royals in the Case of Coomer vs. Kansas City Royals. The issue was that the risk that Mr. Coomer encountered was one inherent to the game of baseball or one which could be created by the negligence of the Royals ballpark management. The Missouri Ct. of Appeals and the St. Louis County Ordinance

The Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District froze St. Louis County’s foreclosure mediation ordinance. The law passed last August and amended in the fall of last year, allowsa homeowner facing foreclosure to enter mediation with the lender ans servicer of a loan.
